MUZAFFARGARH: Police claim to have arrested a man who was allegedly smuggling a large consignment of arms to Sindh’s Katcha area from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday. Jatoi Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Khalid Bilal told the media persons that a team led by Shehar Sultan police station SHO Malik Ayub Iqbal Khakhi and Khairpur SHO Sadat Shakir Hasnain Bukhari, seized a large quantity of modern automatic weapons being supplied from KP to Kashmore Katcha area of Sindh. The SDPO said the alleged arms smuggler,Shafiqur Rehman, has also been arrested and was bring interrogated by police. He said the seized weapons include 3-G rifles, sub-machine guns (SMGs), 30-bore pistols, 9mm pistols, 12-bore single and double barrel guns, repeaters, 120 magazines of SMGs and more than 6,000 bullets. He hoped the seizure of weapons and arrest of the inter-provincial smuggler will help reduce crime by the Katcha area gangs. District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Hasnain Haider awarded cash prizes and certificates of appreciation to the police team involved in the successful operation.
