Pindi police chief seeks cooperation from political parties
RAWALPINDI: The city police chief has called on political parties to make peaceful elections a reality, while directing that carrying weapons would not be permitted on the election day.
City Police Officer, Azhar Hameed Khokhar said that foolproof security arrangements have been made for forthcoming general election and every effort would be made for the protection of the candidates and voters. The CPO said that political parties should cooperate with the city administration in respect of holding general elections in a peaceful manner.
He said that election commission’s code of conduct will be implemented in letter and spirit adding that no one would be allowed to exhibit arms and disturb the peaceful atmosphere.
“Strict action would be taken against the violators. Special security would be deployed for election rallies,” said Khokhar. Earlier, the Election Commission Rawalpindi (ECR) decided to install CCTV cameras at all 2,150 polling stations to control counterfeit votes besides monitoring overall security of the stations.
