Chairman Akhuwat foundation Dr. Amjad Saqib visited the Central Police Office and met IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar. IG Punjab informed Dr. Amjad Saqib about the role, importance and objectives of Police Tahaffuz marakaz. IG Punjab told Dr. Amjad Saqib that police tahaffuz marakaz are playing a key role for the neglected, destitute and exploited people of the society. Transgenders have been appointed Victim Support Officers in tahaffuz centers, 03 in Lahore while one tahaffuz center in all the districts of the province are providing services to the citizens suffering from social problems.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that help and rehabilitation of homeless children & women victims of violence, transgenders are being ensured through tahaffuz centers, similarly, steps are being taken to help and treat drug addicts and mentally ill children and people.
Dr. Amjad Saqib appreciated the performance and services of the tahaffuz centers of Punjab Police. Dr. Amjad Saqib presented concrete suggestions to continue the services and facilities provided in the Police tahaffuz markaz on a sustainable basis. During the meeting, consideration was given to forming an advisory board for funding mechanism, legal and institutional support to keep police protection centers active. Consultations were held about appointing Chief Minister of Punjab as Patron-in-Chief of tahaffuz Centers and discussions were held about electing members on the pattern of Board of Governors.During the meeting, it was decided to create a network at the district level to keep police tahaffuz centers active and deine the responsibilities of the stakeholders. AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem, SDPO Gulberg ASP Syed Shaherbano Naqvi, SDPO Shahdara, ASP Syed Ihsan ullah and other officers were also present.
