RAWALPINDI, Oct 5: Law enforcement agencies have been directed to beef up security around a female federal minister, the cadet college Hasanabdal and the United State embassy in Islamabad in the wake of intelligence that a terror group was planning to attack prominent figures and important buildings, it has been learnt.
A suspected suicide bomber’s name has also been mentioned in a letter sent to the law enforcement agencies and the chiefs of Punjab and Islamabad police.
According to a senior police officer, there had been intelligence about terror threats to prominent political leaders and important buildings.
However, he said the law enforcement agencies had been taking all possible measures to provide protection to the political leaders and those who had been facing terror threats. They have also been asked to contain their activities, he added.
