Victim Support Officer Zanaya Chaudhry along with a delegation of transgenders arrived at the Central Police Office, met IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

The delegation included trans activists Shahzadi Rai, Neeli Rana, Aleena trans filmmaker and Urwa.

Police Tahaffuz marakaz provided legal assistance and guidance to the transgender community in more than 1300 different cases, IG Punjab.

Punjab police provided relief to hundreds of transgenders by solving the problems of violence, abuse, theft and economic exploitation.

IG Punjab ordered to speed up measures for the protection and welfare of transgenders from the platform of Police Tahaffuz markaz.

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar was met by a delegation of the transgender community at the Central Police Office. The delegation led by the Victim Support Officer of Liberty Tahaffuz Center, Zanaya Chaudhry, included trans activists Shahzadi Rai, Neeli Rana, trans filmmaker Aleena and Urwa. On this occasion, Victim Support Officers of Punjab Police, Masooma Ali, Kashish Khan and Inza Khanzadi were also present. During the meeting, the problems of the transgender community and the steps taken by the Punjab Police were discussed.The transgender delegation commended the ongoing steps taken by the Punjab Police to facilitate the members of the transgender community.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar told the delegation that police Tahaffuz marakaz provided immediate legal assistance and guidance to the transgender community in more than 1300 different cases this year. Police Tahaffuz markaz provided relief to hundreds of transgenders by solving the problems of violence, abuse, seizures and economic exploitation. Dr. Usman Anwar said that in order to solve the problems of the trans community, transgenders have been appointed as victim support officers in all the police Tahaffuz centers of the province. Victim Support Officers are also ensuring delivery of justice to the exploited transgender community at the police station level. IG Punjab added that priority measures have been ensured for providing employment, driving training and license to transgenders.

More steps will be ensured with the support of various public and private institutions to provide social and legal protection to transgenders. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar ordered to speed up measures for the protection and welfare of transgenders from the platform of Police Tahaffuz

Center and said that no effort should be spared in solving the problems of transgenders who are suffering from social problems and insecurity. Additional IG Operations Shahzada Sultan, SSP Sahibzada Bilal Umar, AIG Operations Dr. Asad Ejaz Malhi and ASP Gulberg Syeda Shahrabano Naqvi and other officers were also present on the occasion.
