SAHIWAL: Noor Shah police arrested eight persons, including the groom, for resorting to heavy aerial firing with modern automatic weapons during a wedding ceremony at 49/GD village, Noor Shah, on Sunday night. Police said they received a complaint from locals that the groom, Nadeem, his family members and friends were resorting to heavy aerial firing at a wedding event (Hina ceremony) at the village, apprehending that this could result in harm to someone. The complainants said the village elders tried to persuade the groom’s family to not to indulgein firing, but to no avail. The police said that during the raid, the suspects were witnessed indulging in firing and display of heavy fireworks. Police arrested eight persons, including the groom and his brother, and recovered three 44 bore pistols, two 12 bore repeater, and other guns, along with a heavy quantity of bullets and cartridges and empties from the suspects. Later, the registered the first information report (FIR) No 1205/23 against the suspects.
