SARGODHA: Police foiled an attempt by criminals to take away an oil tanker carrying diesel worth millions of rupees in Jhal Chakian area. According to police, on receiving information that some criminals have snatched an oil tanker carrying a huge quantity of diesel in Jhal Chakian area, a blockade was imposed across the district. A Midhranjha police team intercepted the snatched tanker at Midh Chowk, but the criminals, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, opened fire on the police party, which was retaliated. The team called more police contingents and after exchange of heavy firing, the criminals were arrested. One of the criminals was injured in the crossfire with police. SHOs of Jhal Chakian and Kotmoman police station led the operation. The police also recovered the weapons used in the crossfire by the criminals.
