Punjab police crackdown against A category proclaimed offenders (POs) continues, another dangerous PS arrested from United Arab Emirates.
The total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from abroad this year has reached 123.
Adil Mehmood, wanted by Gujarat Police in murder case, was arrested from Dubai, Punjab Police Spokesman.
On the instructions of the Inspector General of Police Punjab, the Punjab Police is continuing its crackdown against dangerous proclaimed offenders residing abroad, in continuation of which, another dangerous PO who escaped to the United Arab Emirates has been arrested, thus the total number of proclaimed offenders arrested from abroad this year has reached 123. Punjab Police’s spokesman told that PO Adil Mahmood, wanted in the case of murder by Gujarat Police, was arrested from Dubai. The accused had fled abroad after the murder incident last year, Punjab Police issued red notices from Interpol, continued follow-up for the arrest and finally the accused was arrested from Dubai. Punjab police team arrested the accused and reached Pakistan at Sialkot airport, he has been handed over to Gujarat police for further action.
IG Punjab while congratulating the police team for arresting the A-category dangerous proclaimed offender from abroad said that the legal process should be completed as soon as possible and the criminal should be punished. IG Punjab further said that the crackdown should be intensified against the dangerous proclaimed offenders involved in murder, robbery and kidnapping. He directed the RPOs, DPOs should personally monitor the crackdown to arrest dangerous proclaimed offenders. Dr. Usman Anwar directed that regular information sharing should be done with FIA, Interpol and other govt. departments, so that more proclaimed offenders should be arrested and brought to justice.
