SAHIWAL: Arifwala city has been included in the Safe City programme being run by the Punjab Safe Cities Authority. An inauguration ceremony in this regard was chaired by Regional Police Officer Mahboob Rasheed at the control room of the SDPO Office in Arifwala on Saturday. According to Pakpattan District Police Officer Tariq Wallayat, the Arifwala Safe City Project is primarily focused on enhancing the well-being of the local residents. The project incorporates cutting-edge facilities, with the Safe City Control Room as its centerpiece. This control room will provide comprehensive services, including CCTV monitoring, traffic management, coordination with Rescue 1122, telecommunications desk, and a crime detection desk. A total of 144 CCTV cameras have been strategically installed across 44 key locations within Arifwala. This extensive network of cameras forms a robust surveillance system capable of promptly detecting and responding to emergencies. Speaking on the occasion, the RPO said the programme would help in controlling crime in Arifwala city. A large number of local civil society and traders’ representatives attended the opening ceremony.
