Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, stated that Punjab Police is not only responsible for the safety of citizens but also accountable to them. For any complaints or delays in justice delivery related to the police, citizens should immediately call the 1787 Complaint Center and reports their issue. IG Punjab stated that he personally monitors the received complaints and actions through the 1787 Complaint Center and ensures action on all requests within the timeline. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the delay in registration of FIR has been eliminated in recent months; Punjab Police has registered 70,000 cases, including the pending cases of previous years, so all the pending applications of registration cases have been disposed off. Dr. Usman Anwar stated that if any incident of not filing an FIR anywhere comes to light, there will be no leniency for those responsible, these views were expressed by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar in a special message to the force and citizens about the working of 1787 Complaint Center and police accountability.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that misuse of powers, arrest of innocent people, bribery, benefiting the accused, involvement of police officers in crimes, internal accountability has been intensified in the department to resolve such issues, ending problems like patronage of drug dealers, inappropriate behavior to the public, denial or delay in service delivery. IG Punjab said that the rate of punishments given on internal accountability in Punjab Police is more than all other departments. IG Punjab further said that after a transparent inquiry into the complaint received on 1787, if the police officer is found to be wrong, he will have to answer, If the investigating officers do not arrest the offender during the investigation, it will be a question mark on the performance of all of us including DPOs, RPOs. IG Punjab further said that after all the welfare and promotions, now the time has started to deliver to the public, the recovery of citizens is the task of the investigating officers, the Central Police Office is ensuring digital monitoring of cases in this regard, IG Punjab said that irresponsible officers and personnel will be held accountable as per discipline matrix. Never knowingly give false information or false testimony to the police to ensure the administration of justice.
