GUJRAT: Wazirabad police have traced and arrested two suspects who killed three Chenab toll plaza staffers and took away Rs6.3 million in cash. Gujranwala City Police Officer Ayaz Saleem who also holds the additional charge of Wazirabad district police officer told reporters that three employees of the contractor firm posted at the Chenab toll plaza along GT Road near Gujrat had been killed at Palkhu drain’s bridge when they were going to deposit the cash amount with a bank in Wazirabad city on May 2 last. He said two motorcyclists had opened fire at the cash van and snatched the amount.
He said different teams led by senior police officials were formed which conducted raids in 12 different districts of Punjab. He said the Wazirabad circle police CIA team arrested the main suspect and his accomplice and recovered Rs 1.3 million of the looted amount and weapons used in the killings. He said suspects had confessed to killing the toll plaza staffers, including Altaf Hussain, Aftab Ahmed Khan and Arbab Waseem.The CPO gave commendation certificates and cash awards to the police officials.
