SARGODHA: The police arrested the alleged kidnapper and a facilitator involved in the abduction of a newborn baby from the paediatric ward of Dr Faisal Masood Teaching Hospital, Sargodha, six days ago. The kidnapped baby was found in a rickshaw in Sahiwal tehsil late on July 21 and was subsequently reunited with his parents. The police solved the case with CCTV footage. A nursing staff member of the paediatric ward was also arrested for reportedly aiding the kidnapper in exchange for Rs5,000. Investigations revealed that suspect Shagufta was childless and her husband Muhammad Hayat had purportedly threatened to pursue a second marriage. This led her to conspire with the hospital staff to abduct the newborn. Both suspects confessed their involvement in the presence of media.
