LAHORE: Police said on Friday they have taken in custody a drone that allegedly crashed in fields in the Kahna area, while being used to smuggle a heavy quantity of drugs. The incident took place in Rasoolpura village where locals found a drone, carrying some packets, lying in the field. On being informed by the locals, a police team reached the spot and took the drone in custody after recovering six kilogram heroin it was carrying. Kahna SHO Abdul Wahid confirmed that the police had taken the drone and the drug “worth millions of rupees” into custody.
However, he added, the drugs and drone were later handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigation.He said they were also conducting investigations to trace the drone operators and its intended destination. Earlier this year, the Narowal police had arrested five suspects allegedly involved in cross-border heroin smuggling through drones. During the investigation, the police had also confiscated a control device, eight batteries and automatic weapons from the suspects.
