KASUR: Police claim to have arrested one of the robbers after an ‘encounter’ on Monday near Sahari road bypass in the limits of B-Division police station. A couple of days back, the same suspect had shot dead a woman and injured three others, including two men and a minor girl, during a robbery. On Monday, police held a picket at Dipalpur road and intercepted three suspects for snap checking. Seeing the police party, the bike riders opened indiscriminate firing and fled towards Sahari bypass. Police chased the robbers who hid themselves in nearby fields but continued firing. After an exchange of fire, police nabbed one of the robbers in an injured condition while two of his accomplices managed their escape. The injured robber, according to police, was identified as Waseem Dogar of the Rukanpura locality.
Police lodged a criminal case against two accomplices Irfan alias Fani and Ali Hussain as per statement of the arrested suspect. DPO Tariq Aziz had established five teams for the arrest of the fleeing robbers. The same bandits looted various passers-by before killing the woman and injuring her son, granddaughter and husband. Police in its press brief said the same gang had been looting the people at Sahari bypass for several days. About two dozen suspected robbers had been arrested by police in injured condition after encounter during the last few months.
