Police van damaged: Dolani gangster killed in ‘shootout’

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Rajanpur police claimed that Dolani gang leader Hakim Harwani involved in incidents of murder, kidnapping for ransom and arms smuggling, was killed in firing by his accomplices when he was being taken in police custody to recover weapons. According to Rojhan Mazari Station House Officer Ishaq Jan, Hakim was wanted in numerous cases and after his arrest on Wednesday night, a police party was proceeding to recover arms when his accomplices attacked the official van in a bid to get him freed. The firing caused damage to the van while Hakim suffered injuries and succumbed to his wounds at Rojhan THQ Hospital.

He said Hakim Harwani, a resident of Umarkot, was a deputy of Fayyaz Dolani group and Punjab police had arrested him during an intelligence-based operation from the Rakine area of Balochistan. The Rajanpur DPO claimed that Harwani was being taken to Kacha area on Wednesday night to make more arrests and recover weapons when his accomplices attacked the team on the hill of Miranpur Darya. He said after a fierce exchange of fire between the police and the robbers of katcha area, Harwani was found dead in sugarcane fields, The body was shifted to Rojhan DHQ Hospital for autopsy. According to police record, Harwani was involved in 21 incidents of crimes, including murder, robbery and kidnapping for ransom. Harwani along with Fayaz Dolani and Abu Bakr Dolani had killed two people on offering resistance while trying to kidnap them from a shop in Rojhan in the past.
