NAROWAL: A suspected robber was killed in a ‘shootout’ while police arrested four of his accomplices in Sialkot on Tuesday. Sialkot Police spokesman Khurram Shahzad said five armed bikers committed robberies at two petrol pumps in Daska and Sudra Badra areas and made off with millions of rupees. He said DPO Hasan Iqbal took notice of the incidents and set up a blockade in Sialkot district. After receiving a call from police control, a Saddar patrol tried to stop the bikers who opened fire on the police party.
The team retaliated and one of the robbers was seriously injured in firing by his accomplices. The injured suspect succumbed to his wounds on the spot. The spokesman said four robbers were arrested when they tried to flee. He claimed Abbas, who died in the encounter, was wanted in dozens of incidents, including attempted murder and robbery. The Sialkot police had fixed head money on his arrest.
