SAHIWAL: Police on Monday recovered a youth from Bahawalpur who along with his friend orchestrated his kidnapping to extort Rs700,000 from his parents to pay off his debt. Talking to the media at his office, RPO Mahboob Rasheed said police arrested both Ali Raza and his friend Asif and put them behind bars. Reports said Ali Raza, a resident of Hujra Shah Muqeem and a student of the Government Technical Training Institute, Sahiwal, was residing in a hostel. The RPO said complainant Muhammad Asghar told the city police that his brother Ali Raza had been missing since June 16. He said the family received a call next day that Ali had been kidnapped and the captors demanded Rs700,000 ransom for his release.
The family also received a video showing Ali being ‘tortured by kidnappers’ and requesting his parents to pay the amount to get him released otherwise they would kill him. City Station House Officer Zeshan Akram registered a case against unknown kidnappers under section 365 of Pakistan Penal Code. The RPO appointed ASP Bangal Khan, DSP Rana Iftikhar along with the SHO to resolve the case. The RPO said police with the help of GPS technology traced Ali Raza and recovered him from Jalalpur Pirwala. He said investigation revealed that Ali planned his kidnapping to get money from his parents.
ARRESTED: Pakpattan police on Sunday night arrested suspect Zaheer Baloch who was allegedly involved in the triple murder of his wife Amina Bibi, brother-in-law Saqib and father-in-law Ghulam Farid at Sham Kot on June 10. Chak Badian SHO Ashiq Abid said Zaheer demanded the transfer of his wife’s hereditary land to his name from his in-laws and on their refusal, killed them. A police team through geofencing arrested him from Tehsil Minchanabad near the River Sutlej Kacha area.
