LAHORE: Inspector General Police Dr Usman Anwar says the IGP Complaint Centre 1787 has been activated seven days a week for convenience of the citizens and redress of their complaints without delay. In a message to the citizens and media representatives on Sunday, he said the working of the Complaint Centre 1787 had been improved to a satisfaction level with effective supervision and a strong follow-up. He informed that new cases had been registered across Punjab on most of the 7,000 pending applications of theft and robbery during the last a couple of weeks, declaring it one of the major initiatives to discourage crime burking.
He said the IGP Complaint Center 1787 is also playing an active role in the arrest of the proclaimed offenders. In another development, the Punjab Police has given jobs to 43 children of the martyred policemen against various positions. Inspector General Police Dr Usman Anwar gave them appointment letters at a ceremony held here on Sunday. Declaring the police martyrs a pride and valuable asset of the department, he said preferential measures were being taken for welfare and redress of the problems of martyrs’ families. He said of the total 43 children, 21 were given jobs as clerks, 13 class IV employees and nine constables and driver constables.
The IGP congratulated the children of the martyrs for becoming a part of the Punjab Police and urged them to follow the footsteps of their parents and perform their duties with hard work and sincerity. He said many initiatives have also been taken for the best welfare of the ‘Ghazis’ and other employees of the force. “It is noteworthy that an amount of Rs1,200m has been approved by the Punjab government to settle the pending cases of the families of police personnel who died during service,” Mr Anwar said and added that MoUs had also been signed for free education of children of the martyrs in various educational institutions. He directed the regional police officers (RPOs) and district police officers (DPOs) to ensure more measures to provide all possible facilities to the families of the martyrs.
