Historic decision of IG Punjab to further simplify the process of issuance of driving license, order to increase the working hours of test centers
From February 13, test centers in Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala will work in double shifts from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. midnight.
Liberty License Center in Lahore will also provide services to citizens 24/7 from February 20.
In 2022, 653,106 citizens in major cities obtained learner's licenses while only 155,404 citizens were able to take the driving test due to lack of resources.
The pleasant behavior with the citizens during duty and the professionalism of wardens in ensuring smooth traffic flow will be the criteria for evaluating their performance.  IG Punjab

Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered to increase the working hours of license test centers in major cities of the province for the convenience of citizens and further simplify the process of issuing driving license.  IG Punjab directed DIG Traffic Punjab, Chief Traffic Officers of Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad to keep the Licensing Test Centers open in double shifts i.e. from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. midnight from Monday 13 February so that maximum citizens can easily get their driving license.  The IG Punjab also ordered the 24/7 operation of the Liberty Traffic License Center in Lahore, which will provide uninterrupted services to the citizens from Monday, February 20.  According to the details, in 2022, a total of 653,106 citizens in the major cities of the province, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad, obtained Learner's licenses, while due to lack of resources, only 155,404 citizens were able to take the driving test. In this regard, it has been decided to increase the working hours of the test centers.  IG Punjab also directed to prepare and launch a modern App as soon as possible to make the process of issuance of driving license easier.  IG Punjab removed the condition of traffic challan quota to evaluate the performance of traffic wardens, he said that the skills of the wardens in ensuring smooth flow of traffic and pleasant behavior with  the citizens during duty will be the criteria for evaluating their performance. IGP reiterated that all  traffic  wardens in  field duty and  staff posted in the offices should treat the citizens with courtesy and leave no stone unturned in their service and convenience.
IG Punjab directed that the weekly schedule of visits of traffic mobile teams to educational institutions and offices should be issued regularly so that more people can get licenses.  He said that the purpose of the visits of the traffic mobile teams is to save the citizens and students from the hassle of visiting the offices repeatedly.  Dr. Usman Anwar issued these orders to the officers in a meeting held at the Central Police Office and also issued a special message on social media accounts of the Punjab Police in this regard.
In his message, IG Punjab said that citizens across the province can avail the renewal of their driving license and issue of lost license from police service centers. He further said that  the citizens can also get these facilities through the traffic police app.  IG Punjab directed that the traffic wardens in all the districts of the province should perform their duties more diligently  and in a spirit of service and make it their motto to help the citizens while maintaining smooth flow of traffic.  IG Punjab directed all the chief and district traffic officers of the province to spend more time in the field so that they can check the uninterrupted flow of traffic at important places. He emphasized that every possible facility should be provided to the citizens for issuance of license by making test system more easy.
