BAHAWALNAGAR: Faqirwali police on Thursday arrested a car driver who drove off after hitting a petrol pump owner on Wednesday. As per the FIR, Abdullah Mohsin of Chak 124/6R hit Muhammad Tahir, owner of Abrar Petroleum, on the main highway when he was told to get limited fuel due to the shortage of fuel. Mohsin first misbehaved with the salesman, and when Tahir intervened, he ran over and injured him and fled. Tahir is being treated at a local hospital for multiple injuries and a leg fracture.
The Petrol Pumps Association demanded the administration provide security at the pumps. Bahawalnagar, like other parts of Punjab, is also facing shortage of petrol and diesel. People declared the fuel shortage an “artificial crisis” stemming from collusion between the administration and hoarders. Some petrol pump owners, however, allege that instead of taking action against the hoarders and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of oil by the companies, the administration was imposing heavy fines on petrol pump owners.
HELD: The A-Division police on Thursday arrested the guard of a hotel for injuring two brothers at Mubarak Gate. The FIR said brothers Azan Ali and Usman Ali were on their way to school when at Mubarak Gate, guard Jafar Ali opened fire which hit the chest, face, eyes and head of the siblings. The suspect fled. Police sources claimed that the fire was unintentional as the guard was checking his gun, which went off.
