LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar says that given the recent wave of terrorism, the search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations have been extended across the province. Speaking to the officers of the 32nd Senior Management Course at the Central Police Office on Thursday, he said the process of eliminating criminals and evil elements and their facilitators was ongoing in Punjab. The delegation from the National Institute of Management, Karachi, included 39 officers. They were briefed about the Punjab Police, its working patterns, and its professional competence to fight crime and maintain law and order. A documentary film on the modern services and operational procedures of the Punjab police was also shown to the officers.
The IGP said the journey from traditional policing to IT-based policing was rapidly progressing with the effective use of information technology and modern practices in providing services to citizens and the eradication of crimes. He also spoke about the Police Khidmat Marakiz and the police service counters, which provide multiple services to the people in all districts of the province. He said the police were fully cooperating with other government institutions to solve the problems of the citizens, and the coordination would be improved. Meanwhile, Dr Anwar again visited the 1787 Complaint Management System and attended to the phone calls of citizens/complainants. He issued warnings to circle officers of various districts against delaying the lodging of complaints and issued directions to the senior officers to take action against them and ensure registration of cases.
He said the CMS was activated to solve the problems of the citizens, and no delay would be tolerated at any cost. He announced he would visit the centre daily and attend to the phone calls of the citizens so that action could be taken promptly. He said show-cause notices were being given to those DSPs who used delay tactics in lodging complaints.
