Inspector General Police Punjab Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has said that Special Branch is a very important formation of Punjab Police whose intelligence reports play a key role in maintaining law & order in the province. IG Punjab directed that the officers and personnel of the Special Branch to come out of their comfort zone to ensure performance of their duties with hard work and dedication. He said that work of the Special Branch is in the field, the officers should leave the offices and all the ROs should send reports keeping an effective vigilance on the law and order situation and activities of anti state elements in their districts. IG Punjab directed the Additional IG Special Branch to take daily progress from the ROs about the regional situation through video link and effectively monitor the situation and challenges of each region. Aamir Zulfiqar Khan said that my favorite is the one who works very hard and the work shirkers will be held accountable. IG Punjab said that the special branch and the district police should take comprehensive steps to suppress the banned organizations and anti-social elements involved in spoiling peace so that such elements could be stamped out.
He said that complete honesty, transparency and impartiality in the performance of duties is a requirement of every position and these instructions should be implemented in every case in the preparation of reports. IG Punjab said that the shortage of personnel in the Special Branch will be met out soon and provision of modern resources will also be ensured. He expressed these views today while presiding over the ROs meeting on the occasion of his visit to the Special Branch. Additional IG Special Branch briefed IG Punjab about the overall performance and professional matters of the Special Branch.
IG Punjab Aamir Zulfiqar Khan directed ROs Bahawalpur and DG Khan to hold a meeting with Additional IG South Punjab for wreaking massive crackdown on criminals in order to eliminate them permanently from Katcha area. Addressing the Police Darbar at special branch after the meeting, he said that he has spent four years in the special branch and has a good understanding of the working and problems of the special branch. He said that honor and selfless service of the public is our duty, so all officers and personnel should take special care to protect the self-esteem of citizens during their duty. He said that we all have honor and we should not do anything that would harm the dignity and sanctity of the police department and hurt the citizens. IG Punjab asked the supervisory officers to maintain close contact with the Sipah and bridge the gap between Commander and the force. The officers should listen to personal problems of the force and take all possible steps to solve them. IG Punjab said that the capacity building of the force is also the responsibility of officers and all possible measures should be taken in this regard. IG Punjab said that I strongly hate lies, deception and grouping. He directed all officers to comply with instructions of their commander and make his strength. IG Punjab heard the problems of the officials in the Special Branch Headquarters and issued orders on the spot for their redressal. IG Punjab also distributed prizes and certificates to officers and personnel who performed well during duty. A large number of officers and personnel including Additional IG Special Branch, DIGs and Regional ROs were present on the occasion. At the end, IG Punjab also planted a sapling in office of the Special Branch.
