GUJRAT: Police arrested four workers of the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) on charge of stealing medicines from the hospital’s storeroom for a private hospital of a medical officer. ABSTH Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Asif Mehmood lodged a complaint with the Civil Lines Police Station, saying that an inquiry found that the workers, including Kashif, Shakeel and Dameel, would steal medicines from the store and hand them over to Saqib, a radiology technician.
The racket had been involved in selling the stolen medicines to a nearby private hospital on the Bhimber Road, owned by a medical officer of the ABSTH. The sources said the hospital administration had also examined the medical store of the private hospital to check the stolen medicines. However, police said an investigation had been launched after registration of a case against the suspects and their arrest.
