LAHORE: Two policemen died of firing during an encounter with robbers in Manga Mandi area late on Monday. ASI Asim and constable Shahid were part of a police team which responded to a 15 call of street crime.
A police official said some robbers busy in looting citizens resorted to aerial firing on seeing police. As a result, both policemen sustained multiple bullet wounds. Asim died on the spot while Shahid expired at a hospital. CCPO Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, DIG Operations Afzaal Kausar and other police officers reached the site and ordered the police to set up pickets and increase patrolling to arrest the suspects.
