RAWALPINDI: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Nasir Mehmood Sati on Monday visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements for the England-Pakistan cricket test match scheduled to start on December 1. A spokesman said City Police Officer Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari and SSP Operations Wasim Riaz briefed the RPO on the security arrangements. The RPO made a detailed review of the security of the control room, entry gates, enclosures and all the adjacent pickets.

The RPO reviewed various points of duty and issued instructions that all senior officers should personally check and brief the officials on duty from time to time, ensuring the implementation of the proposed SOPs. He said alternate traffic routes and traffic flow in the surrounding areas should be ensured for the convenience of the citizens. Foolproof security arrangements must be ensured during the cricket series.

As part of the foolproof security, markets, shops and petrol pumps located along the route of the visiting cricket team (Faizabad to Shamsabad) would be closed till their departure from the stadium after practice. On the other hand, the city traffic police have already implemented an alternate traffic plan with blocking Double Road for all kinds of traffic on both sides and deployment of extra wardens.

Meanwhile, The RPO organised an open kutchery in his office and citizens from all districts of the region submitted requests for redressal of their grievances. The RPO issued instructions to concerned officers to take immediate action and resolve the public grievances and send him reports. The spokesman said holding of the open kutchery was aimed at improving quality of policing. “Further improvement in the quality of service delivery, including delivery of speedy justice to the public at the police station level, is one of my top priorities,” the RPO was quoted as saying.
