GUJRAT: Saddar police resolved the murder case of a truck driver who was killed over an honour-related issue by his cousin for having love affair with his sister and arrested two suspects in the case. A spokesman for Gujrat police said the body of an unidentified man was found near Mohla Khurd village on Nov 6. The throat of the victim, later identified as Faheem Masih of Daoke Muridke (Sheikhupura), a driver of a mini-truck, had been slit.The Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) collected the evidence and a case was registered against unidentified suspects on the report of Tanveer Masih, the brother of the deceased. District Police Officer Ghazanfar Shah constituted a team under Lalamusa DSP Raja Zahif Naeem and Gujrat Saddar Station House Officer Ijaz Bhatti to resolve the case. Police traced three suspects involved in the case and arrested two of them, namely Shahid Ali alias Kaka of Basra Colony, Muridke, and Muhammad Islam of Ravi Riyan, Sheikhupura.
The spokesman said the arrested suspects had told the investigation team that their friend, Ehtsham alias Shami, had asked them to kill Faheem for allegedly having relations with his sister and they planned to travel with Faheem on his mini-truck to kill him. They said that as per the plan, they mixed drink with poison during the travel and gave it to Faheem but he did not drink it. Later, during a stopover, they slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon in the truck and threw his body at some deserted place near Gujrat. The truck was abandoned near the railway track on the outskirts of Gujrat city. Police said the third suspect, Ehtsham, was yet to be arrested.
