Instructions issued in a meeting about the security of the long march at the Central Police Office under chairmanship of IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar.
Inspector General Police Punjab Faisal Shahkar has said that foolproof security arrangements should be made for PTI's long march in all the districts of the province. IG Punjab directed that all available resources should be utilized for security of citizens participating in long march in other cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujarat and Rawalpindi and the law and order situation should be maintained at all costs. IG Punjab while directing Lahore and Rawalpindi police to formulate a comprehensive plan to ensure security and traffic flow, said that the implementation of alternative traffic plan should be ensured for the convenience of ambulances, buses of educational institutions and passengers. IG Punjab directed that additional personnel should be posted on the roads adjacent to the Long March route, especially the GT Road. He emphasised upon special arrangements on the entrance and exit routes of the motorway and inter-provincial connecting roads. IG Punjab said that the law and order situation must be ensured during the long march at any cost while security of the long march should be monitored moment by moment from the control room established in the Central Police Office. IG Punjab directed the police teams to speed up the search and combing operations in the districts of the route and said that the routes of the long march should also be monitored with CCTV cameras. He issued these directions while presiding over the meeting held to review security arrangements of Long March.
During the meeting, Additional IG Operations Punjab gave a briefing about the arrangements made regarding the security of the Long March. IG Punjab directed all the RPOs and DPOs of the province to personally monitor the security arrangements regarding the long march and to ensure the atmosphere of law and order through effective coordination. IG Punjab further said that the protection of life and property of the citizens is the first priority of Punjab Police which will be ensured in any case and any attempt to disturb the peace by the miscreants will not be allowed to succeed. Additional IG Operations, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IG CTD and DIG Operations Punjab were present in the meeting while RPOs and DPOs of all regions including CCPO Lahore participated through video link.
