Nadra to issue computerized arms licences
Islamabad: The Country will have for the first time computerized arms licences through transparent and authentic system.
This was announced by the Nadra authorities here Wednesday on behalf of the Interior Ministry.
Nadra claims that it has ensured precision and validity in the system after putting in tremendous efforts as it has developed customised software for the issuance of computerized arms licences late last year.
This initiative was conceived to bring more transparency in the arms licence issuance. The purpose of the effort is to issue secure documents and provision of facility to the people. The initiative paved the way for the government to have a computerised record of arms licences.
The scope of computerised arms licence is to prevent forgery and duplication of sensitive nature documents as Nadra is using similar card technology for computerised national identity cards (CNIC), Central Database of Arms Licence has been formed by Nadra, Which will help in necessary verification of particulars of applicants with CNIC. The card has well preserved security features.
The authority has also issued the procedure for obtaining the computerised arms licences. Such licences are processed after receiving necessary approval from the Ministry of Interior.
The applicant is required to fill complete bio-data in the given form of computerised arms licence and submit it along-with a photocopy of CNIC and 1’’x1” photograph after he receipt of the approval of the Interior Ministry. The applicant is issued a token upon receiving of the form. After entry of particulars and scanning of all the documents and verification of CNIC, demand note is issued to the applicant within three to four days of receiving of documents.
The demand note remains valid for 90 days from the date of its issuance. It is bar-coded to prevent forgery and duplication at any stage.
The applicant get demand note stamped and filled with relevant information by the arms dealer after purchasing of the weapon. The applicant has to enlist the demand note with the DC/DCO/Political Agent.
The application is supposed to submit the demand note to Nadra Office after completion. On receiving demand note from the applicant, Nadra enter the required data in the system and the applicant is issued with computerised arms licence within 15 days.
Nadra has announced that it has established a separate office at G-10/4 Islamabad to deal the project. All information regarding this project can be obtained form the project website and on telephone 051-92392921-2.
The applicants are being facilitated for obtaining arms licences. The licences are being issued to applicants concerned after approval by the competent authority. The working of Nadra Projects has been appreciated in inland and internationally by all concerned.
