Having myself been the head of the Special Branch, the issues of Special Branch will be resolved on priority basis. IG Punjab
Inspector General Police Punjab Faisal Shahkar has said that Special Branch is the most important field formation of Punjab Police whose role is key in maintaining peace and order in the society. IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar directed that the Special Branch should keep a close eye on law and order situation as well as the working of the field officers. IG Punjab directed to continue to monitor illegal hoarding and artificial price hike and bring them to book so that law breakers who earn illegal profits can be severely punished. IG Punjab directed Additional IG Special Branch to identify the corrupt elements in the force, they will be immediately expelled from the department. IG Punjab said that he himself has been the head of Special Branch, I am well aware of the problems of Special Branch these issues will be solved on priority basis. He said that the shortage of staff and logistical problems on vacant posts will be resolved soon. IG Faisal Shahkar directed that special attention should be given to the capacity building of the officers and personnel so that they can ensure the safety of citizens while performing their duties effectively. He issued these instructions while giving instructions to the officers on the occasion of a visit to the Special Branch Roberts Club today.
IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar chaired a high-level meeting at Special Branch Headquarters Roberts Club in which Special Branch ROs participated through video link. Acting Additional IG Special Branch Raja Faisal briefed IG Punjab about professional affairs of Special Branch. While giving instructions to the officers, he said that the process of monitoring the banned organizations and their facilitators should be continued and implementation of National Action Plan should be ensured in every case. He urged the officers to speed up intelligence-based operations to bring organized drug gangs, especially drug dealers and smugglers around educational institutions and hostels under the law. On this occasion, IG Punjab also visited various sections of the Special Branch Office.
