1661 mourning processions and 3943 Majalis of the 9th Muharram are continued peacefully throughout the province.
On the instructions of IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar, DPOs, RPOs are mobilized in the field in all districts.

On the instructions of Inspector General Police Punjab Faisal Shahkar, fool-proof security is being provided to the mourning processions and Majalis of the 9th Muharram-e-Haram across the province. RPOs, CPOs and DPOs are active in the field in all the districts of the province and best arrangements are being made by utilizing all available resources for the security of the main processions and Majalis of ninth Muharram. IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar said that security arrangements for mourning processions and Majalis are being continuously monitored from the control room established in the Central Police Office and the situation is being observed moment by moment till the beginning and end of all the processions. Faisal Shahkar said that there is complete ban on double riding in all districts of the province and full implementation of Section 144 is being done. IG Punjab said that mobile phone service has been partially stopped at sensitive places in selected districts. IG Punjab said that CCTV cameras have been installed on the routes to monitor the processions in all the districts.
According to the details, 1661 processions and 3943 Majalis were held across the province on the 9th of Muharram. IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar said that more than 650 cameras have been installed on the routes of the procession in the provincial capital, while the surveillance room is active day and night to monitor the security arrangements in Safe City. IG Punjab said that fool-proof arrangements have been made for the main procession of the 9th of Muharram leaving from Pandu Street in Lahore, while special measures have been taken in other important districts including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi.
