Agreement between Punjab Police and University of Health Sciences to enhance mutual cooperation

The MoU was signed by DIG Welfare Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani and Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Dr Javed Akram at a ceremony held at CPO.

The UHS will play a supporting role in providing medical facilities to police personnel in hospitals affiliated to the University of Health Sciences. Dr. Javed Akram

UHS forensic science students will be offered internships for four to six weeks at Punjab police offices.

The University of Health Sciences will conduct training sessions to enhance the capacity of investigating officers.

Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that Punjab Police is enhancing cooperation with educational institutions through MoUs to promote education and research sector. IG Punjab said that the culture of research in police is being promoted through partnership with educational institutions so that not only students could get internship opportunities in police offices but also by taking advantage of research reports of students. Moreover, timely steps can be taken for further improvement in service delivery by research reports of students.  Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that Punjab Police is fully aware of its social responsibilities as an institution besides protection of life, property of people and   prevention of crime. The scope of Punjab Police Internship Program will also be further expanded. He expressed these views while talking after the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Health Sciences Lahore and Punjab Police at the Central Police Office here today.

According to details, an agreement was reached between the Punjab Police and the University of Health Sciences to enhance mutual cooperation. Under the MoU, the two institutions will enhance human resource development and cooperation for educational and research purposes. Dr. Javed Akram said that UHS would play the role of facilitator in providing medical facilities to the police personnel in the hospitals affiliated to the University of Health Sciences. DIG Welfare Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani said that According to the MoU, the University of Health Sciences will provide all possible assistance to police personnel in matters related to forensic sciences while the University of Health Sciences Seats will be allocated for police personnel in the institutions for admission in M.Phil and Ph.D. programs. Graduates from UHS, M.Phil and Ph.D students will write research theses on topics related to police and both institutions will take all possible steps for public awareness projects.  Under the MoU, training sessions will be organized at the University of Health Sciences for capacity building of investigating officers in the field of forensic science. Dr. Javed Akram appreciated the efforts of Punjab Police in maintaining law and order and prevention of crime and acknowledged the sacrifices of Punjab Police personnel. IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana, Additional IG Establishment BA Nasir, Additional IG Welfare Farooq Mazhar, Additional IG Operations Sahibzada Shehzad Sultan and Additional IG training Zulfiqar Hameed along with other officers were present on the occasion.  At the end of the ceremony, commemorative shields were exchanged between IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan and Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences.
