Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that in order to maintain peace and order on Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr, all available resources should be provided for the security of sensitive mosques, imambargahs and open Eid gatherings across the province.  IG Punjab directed that in addition to deployment of snipers on the roofs for security of sensitive mosques, imambargahs and religious places, modern technology including walk-through gates, checking with metal detectors and CCT should be ensured. Similarly, all RPOs and DPOs should ensure full implementation of Eid-ul-Fitr security plan in their respective districts.  Rao Sardar Ali Khan instructed the CTD, Special Branch and concerned departments to remain on high alert in view of the current law and order situation.  IG Punjab directed that for the convenience and security of the citizens special arrangements should be carved out for the security of recreational places, public parks, busy highways and shopping plazas during the Eid holidays. He stressed upon provision of security for foreign national especially Chinese experts and citizens.

IG Punjab directed the DIG Traffic Punjab to take special measures in view of the extra load of traffic on the highways on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.  Patrolling should be increased during night time checking at inter provincial and intra city entrance and exit points. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that strict measures should be taken to ensure smooth flow of traffic in Murree during Eid holidays and ban on entry of extra vehicles so that citizens do not face any problem.   IG Punjab issued these instructions to the officers in a video link conference held at Central Police Office today to review the security arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr.  The security plan of Chand Raat and Eid-ul-Fitr was reviewed in detail in the conference.

IG Punjab was briefed about the Eid security plan on which IG Punjab instructed that a comprehensive strategy and zero tolerance should be adopted to protect human lives from the incidents of aerial firing on Chaand Raat.  Strict legal action should be taken against violators,he added.   Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that the incidents of kite flying are unbearable therefore zero tolerance policy should be adopted on kite flying and one wheeling incidents. He emphasised upon wreaking massive crackdown on manufacture, sale and use of metallic strings and kites.

Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that those involved in sale and use of drugs especially modern drugs like ice (meth) and glass should be brought under the grip of law & order while arresting proclaimed offenders and court absconders. He directed to make   special campaign against illegal possession of weapons more effective.   IG Punjab directed the officers to visit the field areas during Eid holidays and inspect the security arrangements at sensitive places.  He stressed that the families of martyrs should be included in the joys of Eid and gifts and Eidi should be sent to the house of every martyr of Punjab Police.  The conference was attended by Additional IG Operations, Additional IG CTD, Additional IG Special Branch, Additional IGs, CCPO Lahore, DIGs, DIG Operations and DIG Investigation via video link.
