Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that best arrangements should be made for the security arrangements of mosques, imambargahs and other religious places by using all available resources during Ramadan. IG Punjab directed that security of Ramadan bazaars should be ensured and special attention should be paid to the security of sensitive mosques and places of worship during Sehri, Iftar and Taraweeh. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that supervisory officers should increase patrolling in the morning and night hours of the month of Ramadan and should be seen in the field. IG Punjab said that special operation should be carried out in the holy month against hoarding and profiteering with the help of special branch and intelligence agencies and the culprits involved in this illegal act should be punished. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that security of public markets, banks and large shopping centers should also be taken into consideration during Ramadan. IG Punjab directed to increase the working hours of Dolphin, Peru and Patrol forces in the vicinity of sensitive areas. Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that the operation against those involved in kite flying, aerial firing and drug smuggling and such culprits should be brought to book and severe punishments should be meted out to them. IG Punjab expressed displeasure over reports of kite flying incidents from different districts. IG Punjab has assigned special tasks to major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala to curb crime. Giving directions against kidnapping on ransom and abuse of women and children, IGP Punjab emphasised upon officers to look after such cases under their personal supervison so that the accused could be meeted out severe punishment. IG Punjab directed that strict implementation of the National Action Plan should be ensured alongwith intelligence based operations in collaboration with the intelligence agencies. Rao Sardar Ali Khan warned that negligence in the arrest of proclaimed offenders and court absconders would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against those responsible for the escape of the accused during the trial. IG Punjab issued these instructions to all the supervisory officers of the province while presiding over the video link RPOs, DPOs conference held at the Central Police Office.
The meeting reviewed the steps taken to curb crime and maintain law and order. CCPO Lahore briefed on the steps taken to curb street crime in the provincial capital and security arrangements for Pak-Australia cricket matches and Ramzan bazars. IG Punjab directed that strict action be taken against those who possess illegal weapons and do one wheeling. He stressed that those responsible for the incidents of violence and killings in police custody do not deserve any sympathy and departmental and legal action should be taken against the officers and personnel involved in such incidents. The meeting was attended by Additional IG South Punjab, Additional IG Establishment, Additional IG Operations, Additional IG Investigation, Additional IG Welfare, CCPO Lahore Chief Operating Officer Safe Cities Authority, DIG Operations and DIG. Investigation, DIGs and other officers while all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs of the province participated through video link.
