Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that Special Branch is a very important field formation of Punjab Police which plays an active role in maintaining law and order in the province through timely receipt of important information. IG Punjab said that modern technology and resources would be provided to update working of special branch. He reiterated that recruitment of staff for all the vacancies would be completed at the earliest. Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that Special Branch should keep a close watch on the working of field officers and personnel and send their reports in time so that the process of departmental accountability could be expedited. IG Punjab said that Special Branch should keep a close watch on illicit profiteering and hoarding so that those who make illicit profits from hoarding can be brought to book and severely punished. Rao Sardar Ali Khan stressed upon implementation of National Action Plan and accelerate actions against hate speech.
IG Punjab said that corruption is not acceptable in any case and corrupt elements will be expelled from the department immediately. IG Punjab, while ordering to launch a sting operation against the kite makers and metallic string makers, said that those involved in this dangerous sport should be rounded up in all districts across province. IG Punjab directed that those occupying the properties of the citizens do not deserve any sympathy therefore the special operation against the land grabbing mafia should be expedited. He expressed these views while instructing the officers on the occasion of his visit to the Special Branch Headquarters Roberts Club. IG Punjab presided over the meeting at Special Branch Headquarters and also addressed all the Regional Officers.
Additional IG Special Branch BA Nasir gave a detailed briefing to IG Punjab about the working and professional affairs of the special branch. IG Punjab directed officers that the perpetrators of organized drugs gang should be brought to justice and this evil should be stamped out . IG Punjab directed all the officers and personnel to perform their duties with utmost diligence, dutifulness and high alert so that nefarious ambitions of anti-social elements could be thwarted by timely actions. On this occasion, IG Punjab also visited the historical library at Roberts Club and expressed special interest in the historical documents and FIRs in the library. At the end of the visit, Additional IG Special Branch BA Nasir presented souvenirs to IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan.
