Inspector General of Police Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan has said that concrete steps should be taken for the permanent elimination of criminal elements and RPOs, DPOs should personally follow a comprehensive plan against organized criminal gangs to bring them to justice. IG Punjab directed that incidents of kidnapping for ransom be prevented and strict action be taken against organized groups and increase the number of field patrolling teams. Rao Sardar Ali Khan said that the provision of modern equipment and facilities to the personnel on duty in Kacha area would be ensured at all costs and a long and short term plan would be adopted for crime control in Kacha. The activities of anti-social elements including drug trafficking should be stopped permanently. Addressing the personnel, IG Punjab said that they should consider their job as a sacred profession. IG Punjab said that delay in registration of FIR and corruption is not tolerated in any case while those who tarnish the image of police will be expelled from the department. IG Punjab said that there is no room for negligence in arresting habitual criminals, proclaimed offenders and professional gangs. Supervisory officers should further improve their performance in this regard. IG Punjab said that the system of interrogation should be improved, officers should make surprise visits to police stations and hold open courts regularly. Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed that zero tolerance should be adopted in cases of violence and abuse against women and children. He issued these instructions while addressing a high level meeting of Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan Division at DPO Office Rahim Yar Khan today, presiding over a crime meeting and addressing officials at Police Darbar. The Additional IG South Punjab while briefing about the steps taken to eradicate organized crime said that concrete steps are being taken for the prevention of crime and establishment of law and order in the districts of South Punjab. The meeting was also attended by Additional IG South Punjab Captain (R) Zafar Iqbal, RPO Bahawalpur Sher Akbar, RPO DG Khan Waqas Nazir while DPO Rahim Yar Captain (R) Muhammad Ali Zia, DPO Bahawalpur, DPO Bahawalnagar and other officers participated. DPO Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur briefed IG Punjab on the situation in Kacha area.
Earlier, police contingent saluted IG Punjab on his arrival at Sadiq Shaheed police line. IG Punjab visited the memorial of martyrs in Sadiq Shaheed Police Line and laid a wreath of flowers. IG Punjab met the families of police martyrs at the police line and distributed gifts among the children. He addressed the police officers and officials in police Darbar. IG Punjab listened to the problems of the personnel and issued instructions on the spot for their solution. IG Punjab, on the request of the personnel, issued orders for exchange and financial assistance on the spot. The best welfare is one of my priorities. IG Punjab appreciated the performance of officers who performed well in Bahawalpur and DG Khan regions. In the end, Additional IG South Punjab and RPO Bahawalpur presented a commemorative souvenir to IG Punjab.
