CM orders foolproof security at court

LAHORE
Taking notice of killing of two brothers in the Lahore sessions court due to security lapse, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday directed the capital city police officer (CCPO) to make foolproof security arrangements to check recurrence of such incidents.
The chief minister issued the direction after a meeting with a delegation of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA).
Led by District Bar Association, Lahore, president Shahzad Hassan Sheikh, the delegation called on CM Shahbaz Sharif and apprised him of the details of the sessions court incident as well as their problems.
Provincial minister Nadeem Kamran Malik, Member National Assembly Bilal Yasin, Member Provincial Assembly Ajasam Sharif, the Law secretary, the commissioner and the district coordination officers as well as the capital city police officer (CCPO) were also present.
Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that lawyers belonged to a noble profession and they were playing a very important role in the provision of justice to the common man. He said that solution of the problems of legal community was the responsibility of the government.
Taking serious notice of the incident in the Lahore sessions court, the CM directed the CCPO to make foolproof security arrangements to check recurrence of such incidents.
He said that security arrangements in the sessions court should be reviewed and steps taken to improve the same with the consultation of lawyers.
He said that favorable atmosphere should be provided to lawyers for the performance of their responsibilities, issuing instructions to immediately start work to raise the boundary wall of the Sessions Court besides laying tiles in the Model Town Kutchery. He also ordered the provision of parking facility to lawyers till 12 noon in the ground adjacent to the sessions court.
