Police put on red alert
LAHORE, May 27: The Capital City Police on Friday enhanced security after intelligence reports that Lahore may face a terrorist attack like that of Mehran Base in Karachi
Sources said information gleaned from some arrested terrorists revealed that the anti-state elements might hit the provincial capital on a wider scale to fulfill their nefarious designs within next 24 hours.
In response to this threatening information, the police high-ups called an emergent meeting on Friday to discuss the situation and to finalize a `comprehensive plan` to thwart any possible terrorist attack.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Faisal Ali Rana told Dawn the police had been put on red alert especially for next 24 hours by making additional deployments at the entry/exit points of the city besides sensitive installations and public buildings.
The patrolling on roads had also been enhanced. — Asif Chaudhry
