Two militants arrested
GUJRANWALA, May 18: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two terror suspects and seized weapons and explosive material from them during a raid on a seminary on Naushera Virkan Road.
Talking to the reporters at a hurriedly called press conference, City Police Officer Ghulam Mehmood Dogar said the police had information that the administration of Jamia Hifza Al-Banat located near Tetley was involved in anti-state activities and had accumulated explosive material and arms in the seminary.
He said the police raided the place, arrested seminary incharge Hafiz Muhammad Bilal and Osama Zaidi and seized two pressure cooker bombs and a 44-bore rifle.
Seminary staff and neighbours said police also took away seminary teacher Akram Qasim and neighbour Muahmmad Bashir.
Dogar said the accused belonged to a banned religious outfit and were planning attacks on law enforcement agencies in the City.
