Former mayor held for maid’s murder
GUJRANWALA. May 13: Police on Friday arrested a former mayor after a court rejected his plea for an interim bail.
Maid Iqra (17), a resident of Jameki village in Sheikhupura district, was found dead in the house of former mayor Babu Javed Ahmad on GT Road on March 16.
Iqra’s mother Iqbal got registered a case against Ahmad and his employee Muhammad Habib, alleging that they tortured her to death.
Ahmad secured pre-arrest bail from a court after registration of a case against him and stared efforts for settlement of the issue.
However, he failed to strike an out-of-court deal with Iqra’s mother until Friday.
