News flashed by different T.V Channels and published in various newspapers today regarding kick backs worth Rs.9 Crore in the procurement of bullet proof jackets by awarding a contract to a firm of their own choice, are totally baseless and misleading.
According to details, the PPRA rules were strictly followed in the procurement of these jackets. Whereas, in police department, there is another technical committee comprising of a DIG and two SPs who permanently observe and scrutinize all kind of purchases and deals done by the police department. This deal was also finalized after the approval of this technical committee.
After completing all steps of authorized procedure, the approved sample was tested by the armed section of the GHQ as per rules. The same procedure was adopted in the purchase of these Bullet Proof Jackets before giving the final approval to the selected firm.
