Punjab Police has proved its impartiality, responsibility and neutrality by conducting peaceful and transparent elections of local body’s into three phases that it is equally capable to protect the lives and properties of the public.
This official statement was issued by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on completion of 3rd phase of local body’s elections. Today in 12 districts where elections were being conducted were included Sialkot, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Khushab, Jhang, Multan, D.G Khan, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Rajanpur, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.
According to the statistics received from these districts reports against 87 workers of various political parties as code of conduct violators, which included 53 of PML (N), 17 PTI and 17 independent and from other parties. Total 51 violators have been arrested, which included 30 of PML (N), 7 PTI and 14 from independent.
Punjab police has lodged 24 FIRs on the complaints of 16 from police officials, 5 Presiding Officers, 1 PML(N) and 2 from Independents. Similarly, as a result of scuffle incidents between the workers, 19 had received minor injuries, in which PML (N) 7, PTI 4 and Other Party’s 8 workers were included. During the election duties a constable from district Jhang and one ASI got injured by hitting stone.
In Rawalpindi one person belonging to independent group lost his life due to fire arm injury. Rawalpindi Police lodged an FIR in Police Station Dhmyal against the accused and started raids to arrest him.
