FIR reporting centres to be set up soon

LAHORE – Capital City Police Officer Ahmad Raza Tahir has said that ‘Reporting Centres’ would be established soon in the offices of Divisional SPs Operations, where citizens can lodge the FIRs as well.
According to an official handout issued on Monday, he said that the police would adopt ‘not defensive but offensive policy’ to protect the lives and properties of the citizens. Raza also warned that only those police officers would remain in the Lahore Police who would be committed to serve the downtrodden and the aggrieved people and provide them justice.
He said that corrupt, inefficient, and officers having connections with criminal elements would not be tolerated in the police department and they would be weeded out.
The CCPO said that comprehensive lists had been prepared of gambling, narcotics, prostitution, extortionists and land mafia dens and it would be ensured that big fish of the criminal world are netted so that the small fish of criminal world scatter away.
He said that hardened criminals who are disgracing women by forcibly entering into homes, kidnapping children for ransom and looting banks would be dealt with iron hands.
He further said that scourge of terrorism could only be eliminated with the close cooperation of the people and Lahore Police is keeping a close liaison with property dealers to collect the data of people living on rents.
