Security along Punjab border beefed up

Dera Ghazi Khan: To prevent infiltration of terrorists fleeing the tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwah where a surgical operation was being carried out against their hideouts, security along the borders of Punjab had been beefed up.
 
Dera Ghazi khan shares its boundaries with troubled areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwah and Balochistan.
 
According to sources, the government had prepared a comprehensive plan to cope with the threat of infiltration of unwanted elements into the province.
 
Regional Police Officer Abdul Qadir Qayum told Dawn security arrangements had been enhanced at all entry and exit points in Layya and DG Khan districts to check inflow of terrorists.
 
RPO said banks of River Indus were also being manned by police, while intelligence agencies were also monitoring the situation.
 
Political Assistant and Border Military Police Commandant Mohammad Riyaz said, "We are alert and northern pickets are fully functional in tribal area.”
 
Meanwhile, the DPO visited various pickets at Lakha, Jhangi, Tal Kaoura and Bokhara areas on the Punjab-KPK provincial boundary in Taunsa tehsil.
 
Two teams of rapid response force have been deployed at Triman checkpost on the provincial boundary to assist the district police.
