Keeping in view the positive feedback in redressing the public grievances and provision of timely justice to the people in open courts, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rahman has issued new official order to change the timings and increase the duration of these courts.
According to a letter issued by Provincial Police Chief, all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs were directed to hold open courts for two hours in their offices from 10 am to 12 noon on daily basis. IGP will himself do the same exercise at PHQ, from 10 am to 12 noon. Due to the court commitments of DSPs and SHOs, they were directed to hold open courts from 3 pm to 5 pm on daily basis.
IGP directed the Field Police officers that open courts are the sources through which confidence building between the public and police could be established. He further said that the complainants should be accommodated in their respective areas by resolving their problems and in this way they could also get rid of unnecessary delaying tactics.
