Investigation against as many as 1600 rikshaw drivers

In order to streamline the traffic in the metropolis, to get rid of professional beggars who try to robe innocent citizens around important streets, buildings and under the bridges and who create security hazards and also to act against the extremist organizations that use public vehicles as moving adds for their nefarious ends, the Inspector General of Police Punjab has provided the CTO six patrolling mobiles which would be patrolling the city for 24 hours and provide a sigh of relief to the citizens by keeping the streets clear of unnecessary car parkings and encroachments.

 

CTO Lahore Mr. Tayyab Hafeez Cheema apprised the IG of Police that he had started investigation against as many as 1600 rikshaw drivers who had displayed illegal and unlawful public ads on their vehicles.

 

IG of Police directed the CTO to take all those elements into account who were found begging under various bridges, road sites etc besides ensuring of regular patrolling after dividing the city into accessible zones. The IG of Police reiterated that at least one inspector may also be part of the vesting squads comprising wardens so that those using hooters, vehicles without number plates and black screens on the windows of their vehicles may also be taken to task on the spot.

 

The CTO Lahore informed the IG of Police that he had taken the custody as many as 15,924 black screen vehicles and 8344 without prescribed number plates during the last six weeks.

 

The IG of Police also directed the CTO to personally ensure and oversee the monitoring process and extend full cooperation to the parking companies through establishing a regular contact with them so that city traffic may be streamlined in best possible way.
