Car theft gang busted in Layyah
LAYYAH, March 25: Police arrested a gang on inter-provincial car thieves on Friday and seized three stolen vehicles and illicit arms from them in Chak No 339-TDA.
Layyah District Police Officer (DPO) Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem told a press conference gang leader Mushtaq Rohataki was nominated in 80 cases and 100 criminal cases in Layyah, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Lahore, Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan.
The DPO said Rohataki had stolen Rs1 billion 100 cars. He said most of the car theft victims did not pursue their cases and preferred out-of-court settlements giving the gang a clean chit.
During the press conference, Rohataki said he had links with car thieves in the tribal area and he worked as negotiator between the car owner and the tribal area gang. He said none of the car theft victims was from Layyah.
The other arrested gang members include Khalid, Shahid, Sarfaraz, Fazal and Farooq Mughal.
