The officers / officials who sacrificed their lives while performing their official duties and combating with terrorists and hardened criminals are not only the heroes of the police department but also a symbol of pride for the whole nation.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, while addressing the participants of a ceremony arranged in honor of police officers / officials for their extra ordinary performance during the year 2014. DIG Headquarter Punjab, Farooq Mazhar, AIG Discipline, Dr. Inam Waheed, AIG Admin: Zubair Dreshak and PSO to IGP, Tariq Rustam Cauhan were also present on this occasion.
IGP Punjab distributed cash award of Rs.730000 and appreciation certificates among 55 officers / officials of 7 districts including Vehari, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Mandi Baha-ud-Din and D.G Khan in recognition of their extraordinary and exceptional performance.
Later, answering to questions by the media persons, IGP said that police is strictly following the national action plan designed by the federal government. He told the media that Punjab police is also taking stern action against the violators of five amended ordinances like Punjab Sound System, The Punjab Information and Temporary Residents, The Punjab Prohibition of Expressing Matters on Walls Act, The Punjab Security of Vulnerable Establishment and The Punjab Arm Ordinance.
He said that under the amended Punjab Sound System Ordinance, misuse of loudspeaker will not be allowed and it would only be used for Azan, Jumma Sermons and the Lost and Found announcements.
Similarly, a serious crack down is underway against all those subversive elements who indulge in spreading hate among various sects including minorities and provoke each other by provocative speeches.
The PPO further said that according to The Punjab Information of Temporary Residents Ordinance all landlords of the houses will provide the details of their tenants within three days to the local police station and the hotel and rest houses owners will furnish the same of their guests. No violation or delay will be accepted, Mushtaq Sukhera added.
