Elimination of crime from the society is the joint mission of Police and Media and it could be completed only through mutual cooperation.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mohammad Habib-ur-Rehman while addressing to a eleven member delegation of Electronic Media Reporters Association (EMRA) at CPO, today. The delegation included Tanveer Shehzad, President, Voice of Germany, Umer Javaid, Vice President, Dunya T.V., Mohammad Asim Naseer, General Secretary, Geo T.V., Shakeel Malik, Secretary Finance, KTN, Abbas Naqvi, Member A T.V., Fiaz Hussain, Member, Express T.V., Umer Aslam, Member City-42, Zulqarnain, Member ARY, Raza Kharral, Member Samaa T.V., Saeed Lodhi, Member Waqt T.V., and Tauqeer Ghuman, Member Dawn T.V.
IGP said that media has become a very powerful pillar of Pakistan and the way media is exposing the criminals and highlighting the issues, we are getting guidance from their reporting. IGP further said that he has great hopes from the media that it will highlight the shortcomings of the department side by side it will also encourage the positive activities and major achievements of the police department. IGP ensured the delegation that senior police officers will train the media persons for crisis reporting. He also said that to enhance the cooperation between the media and police, special seminars will be arranged and monthly interactions would also be organized regularly so that the distance between the media, public and police could be bridged.
IGP assured the delegation that all pending cases of media persons lying in Punjab regarding kidnapping for ransom and murder would not only be monitored but they would also being expedited. He also assured the EMRA body that a comprehensive strategy would be adopted to provide security to the journalists and their equipments in future.
