Computerized Complaint Handling Centers (CHC) have started working as Pilot Project in 10 Police Stations of Lahore

In order to improve the behavior of the Police with the public at Police Stations, timely lodging of FIR, speed up the Investigation process, Computerized Record Management of Police Stations and elimination of corruption at Thana Levels; Computerized Complaint Handling Centers (CHC) have started working as Pilot Project in 10 Police Stations of Lahore where in the presence of Civilian Staff, the public can easily get relief regarding redressal of their complaints.

 

This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while addressing the media representatives in an informal meeting at CPO Lahore today, to get their feedback regarding this project.

 

While talking about the Pilot Project, IGP told the media that initially this project has been started at 10 Police Stations of Lahore including Gulberg, Baghbanpura, North Cantt, South Cantt, Model Town,  Mustafaabad, Sarwar Road, and Defence Police Stations A, B and C . He further told that 83 civilian staff including 20 (female) have been selected through NTS. These centers have two working shifts first shifts started from 9:00am to 5:00pm and 2nd one from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. IGP further told that the staff of these centers will be responsible to ensure the lodging of FIR of the complainant along with the provision of computerized slip having details about their investigation officer for future reference. Moreover, all calls received at 15 will be connected with the system of CHC very shortly added, by the PPO.

 

He told that the administrative matters of these centers will be governed by the SPs of these respective centers.

 

While giving their opinions regarding the improvement of these centers, media representatives suggested the IGP, to give more empowerment to the CHC staff, give awareness about the Police Rules and laws, recommendation of three shifts within 24 hours and consecutive monitoring of CHC staff. While appreciating the suggestions of media representatives IGP assured them that he will try to improve the working of these centers in the light of their valuable suggestions so that provision of a better environment to the complainant at these centers would be ensured.

 

Later, answering to the questions of the media persons regarding the investigation of Yuhanna Abad incident, IGP said that those who involved in lynching of two innocent people have been identified with the cooperation of Christian community and Challan has been submitted in the court. He said that the investigation regarding terrorists involved in bomb blast is going on.
