Keeping in view the force requirements of the field officers, decision regarding the security deployment has been finalized under which 1,18,792 police officers / officials will remain on security duty during the 3rd phase of the local bodies elections in 12 districts of the province.
The decision was made by the Inspector General of Police Punjab in a meeting held in Central Police Office Lahore where all senior officers were present.
According to formula the security deployment will be made in three stages including Static Duties, Mobile Duties and Post Polling Duties which will be headed by the District Police Officer. These 12 districts included Sialkot, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Khushab, Jhang, Multan, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.
All 13723 polling stations of these districts have been divided into three categories including A+, A and B, where in A+ category 755, in A 2952 and 10016 polling stations falls in B category.
The deployed force will perform security duties in three different positions. 38872 will remain at polling stations, 16000 at patrolling duties and 5410 will perform their post polling duties on December, 05, 2015.
Moreover, the total deployment will be comprising of 55310 police, 18606 PQR and 44876 police officers / officials of special police.
In order to avoid any untoward situation on the polling day, 44 companies of Pakistan Army and 08 companies of Rangers will remain on standby positions.
The PPO directed the field officers to ensure their impartiality and neutrality during the 3rd phase as practiced during the two phases previously. Moreover, zero tolerance policy will be observed in case of display of arms and carrying them. All licensed weapons of the contesting candidates will be collected from them before the elections and in case of their failure their licenses could be canceled. Victory rallies and slogans will not be allowed and strict action without any discrimination will be taken in case of failure of the candidates. Code of ethics designed by the election commission will be implemented in its true letter and spirit.
